Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2010-02-07
Filling the void that Stereolab left when they abandoned pure trippy electrorock joy for post rock, when The Swirlies disappeared and Buckminster Fuzeboard overdosed on their own overdose. Low fi production on whats mostly downtempo and narcotic electrorock and trippiness. Beautiful stuff with fuzzy basslines, buried female vocs, the works. For fans of the Kranky label, My Bloody Valentine. Flying Saucer Attack and the aforementioned. Kick ass stuff! As in Top Ten all time.

1) downtempo spacey rock with an electro vibe, buried fem vocs
2) oh boy, play this!! Upbeat hip swinging beat with spacey trippy synths, kraftwerk meets stereolab meets abba
3) another downtempo spaceout, really good narco-fun
4) brief dreamy spacey, looping bassline
5) cool beat with fuzz bass line and echoey vocals and weird harmonica, man this stuff kills!!
6) brief, looped almost silly feel with bells and simple melody
7) downtempo jazzy feel, with denser tones and vocs
8) upbeat near garage rock song, huh? But its great
9) strange soaring and swaying feel, last minute or so is this bizarre pitch changed childlike thing
10) upbeat strummy indie rock, again huh? Again good though
11) mindful little ditty, melodic with fem vocs
12) lovely sultry with an almost dubby feel, completely chill and down tempo vicodin bliss, midway a false ending of sorts, takes a quite shift then goes back again w/ a bit more of an indie rock feel
13) electrorock beat, downtempo with near bluesy vibe with harmonica and vocal wailing, nice fuzz bass
14) ambient wash, hypno dreamy, CAREFUL, 20 seconds of dead air at end
15) looping analog synth over epic downtempo, with Thrones’esque voice modulator, righteous!!
