Long Hair
Young Oceans

Slowed down and unintimidating post-rock that features a couple of ambient moments, a couple of harder moments, and gently sprinkles jazz here and there. They work a lot of the same territory as Explosions and Mono and Do Make Say Think, but the end result is so laid back that you don’t detect a hint of arrogance about them. Closer to pretty than challenging.

Try: 1, 3

1. (13:57) runs through about 6 or 7 different movements (depending on how you slice it), going something like: simple piano, poppy-post rock, three long eerie pieces in the midsection that comine a lot of your favorite noise/ambient elements, then finishing up with a gentle orchestral outlay.
2. (12:47) a rather peaceful and slow post rock jam that’s a bit rough around the edges and tends to toughen up every now and then with some good old fashioned guitar thwamps.
3. (8:14) serene but creepy in a The Shining way. Slower and bigger on the reverb. Features a pleasant midway awkward casio solo.
4. (12:32) a jazzy slow hows-your-father that livens up near the end.
