indie pop/emo/confused, but sweet.
death cab, postal service, silkworm, spoon, pavement.
it's sweet emo sweepstakes for the most, but there's an ambition of old indie. (slivers of prog and jazz fusion!?) sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. a few tracks are a little dry.
however: there's a big pool of gems here.
(7 out of 10=IT'S GRRRREAT!)
FCC CLEAN.
SUGGESTIONS: 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9&10.
*1. ALMOST BEST TRACK: jingly open. throbby w/ emo vox. cracking at times. just really nice indie pop. silkworm-that's who i'm thinking of. (p.s. this is the hit.)
2. futury. synthy. kinda arcady. gets spacy in one section. this song is not instantly strong, but it grows on ya' as ya' listen.
3. too many directions in this track(indie-prog-soul) it sounds like they're trying a little too hard to be pavement. it doesn't work.
*4. love it on impact! (you should to.) sweet/moving.
*5. this is sweet&plaintive. electric piano begins...(sud end)
*6. BEST TRACK; build up ala strokes. it's moving pop as it should be. instrum interlude=tinkle jam. great end.
7. i don't like the vocals. i don't like the song. (bland)
*8. spacey begin. vibey. it's sweet.
*9. this is the sad little epic. bleeds into...
*10. this. really, really sweet.
(play 9&10 together. p.s. these two nearly got picked as ALMOST BEST TRACK...ahh...killing my darlings...)
