Dueling Guitars – The brothers Etcheverry make up the acoustic guitar duo that is Seis Cuerdas (Six strings). Their music was born from the flamenco of Buenos Aires, but it contains a heavy metal drive that adds a darker feel to the music and keeps you a bit on edge (Iron Maiden is acknowledged for their encouragement in the album credits). Some songs do a better job than others of keeping your attention for their full length. All instrumental; No FCC’s.
Think a darker Rodrigo Y Gabriela with slightly more studio tinkering/layering.
My picks: 2, 4, 5, 7, 8. But they’re all good.

1) (7:23) Fast-mid. Clever studio effects to separate the two guitars’ sounds as they duel it out. Fade out at end.
2) *(5:41) Mid. More of a flamenco feel, but with interesting tonal deviations.
3) (7:48) Slow to Fast. Simple, lightly constructed beginning morphs into fast-paced drive, then back down again.
4) *(6:02) Fast-mid. A distinct melody seems to be just barely suspended beneath the guitarists’ rapid picking.
5) *(7:36) Mid to Fast. Cascading arpeggios make you feel like you’re falling & rising endlessly.
6) (5:43) Mid. More contemplative, careful. Though, some of the strumming sounds like familiar heavy metal riffs. Long (30sec) fade-out.
7) *(6:02) Fast. Urgent feeling, nice underlying melody. Great toying with tempo in middle of song.
8) (4:44) Mid. Bending the guitar strings just perceptibly gives a neat flavor to this track. Neat stereo components.
