SEAN JONES: No Need for Words

MAINSTREAM JAZZ – Trumpeter Sean Jones sounds invigorated on this fresh, lively set, easily among his best to date. The band (a quintet on most tracks) has real jump on the uptempo numbers and warm soulfulness in the ballads, both setting Jones’ sharply articulated but gruff-edged trumpet lines in a perfect light. Good stuff from the center.
