Born in Boston, now living in Sweden, Deivert has been playing blues mandolin for nearly 40 years, has several solo releases, a few more duos, and has played on countless other albums. Mostly traditionals and covers by R.L. Burnside, Skip James, Son House and Sleepy John Estes, as well as two Deivert originals. Instrumentation of mandolin, guitar, double bass, violin, piano, harmonica, backing vocals. This is the real deal. No FCC’s.

*My Favorites*: Pick any, all are great.

1. (3:55) Mid. R.L. Burnside song. Retains that ominous R.L. mood. Great strings all. Nice female backing vocals. Wow.
2. (3:03) Mid. Rollicking boogie woogie piano. Upbeat and driving.
3. (3:04) Mid. Upbeat despite the lyrics with harmonica, bass, mandolin, etc. Killer.
4. (5:03) Slow / Mid. Slow, soulful dirge. Nice guitars, organ, drums.
5. (2:58) Mid. Title track. Old timey. Mandolin, guitar, double bass, fiddle, female backing vocal. Very Nicely done.
6. (3:19) Mid. Traditional tune. Easy-going, old timey folksy, sparse and bright. Mandolin, guitars and double bass. Very cool.
7. (5:34) Slow. Skip James song. Very dark and ominous with two guitars and a hollow harmonica. Heavy, heavy stuff.
8. (2:28) Mid. INSTRUMENTAL. Upbeat, country, folksy, bluesy Deivert original. Great mandolin, guitar. Very tight and bright. Killer.
9. (3:49) Mid. Traditional, most notably done by Leon Redbone. Bright mandola and guitar duo.
10. (4:03) Mid / Fast. Son House song. Just Deivert’s vocal and his driving, slide guitar. Great interpretation of this classic. Wow!
11. (3:40) Mid. Sleepy John Estes song. Upbeat and driving mandolin and guitar duo.
12. (4:45) Slow / Mid. INSTRUMENTAL. Deivert and Dulyasit Srabua original. Mandolin and guitar.
