|Your Imaginary Friend|
Experimental avante jazz from heavy hitters with local connections. Bay Area themed, tracks are named after local landmarks. Everything feels experimental improv, dissonant, skronky, noisey, mostly restrained and cerebral (not so much blasts of Ornette Coleman Free-Jazz). Drums piano and sax but cool experimental electronics appear in the fray keeping this above your run of the mill downtown noodling improv.|
1) (5:48) begins with slow offbeat percussion and synth tones, piano and skronky sax and drums begin to fall in, dissonant, avante, builds to free jazz but remains slow. 2) (3:00) off time, minimal percussion, sax figures in with piano. 3) (4:15) cool experimental synth tones with drum embellishments, noisey w piano. 4) (4:29) slow to build, skronky sax appears midway, electronics figure in. 5)* (5:20) organic feeling, piano, percussion, at about 1.5 minutes its becomes a pretty big wall of noise/improv which settles down and becomes almost experimental electronic noise 6) (3:01) cool random synth sample, sax playing call answer with some drums, stays minimal. 7) (4:12) very minimal, nice, blends into next. 8) (2:49) comes out of previous, minimal, nice. 9) (10:50) sax fades this in, things drift in with a more lazy laid back tone, but when the sax appears it ramps up to intense stuff, exits more quietly. 10) (5:20) begins minimal and quiet and keeps fairly low key throughout. 11) (5:21) piano centered, sax appears and things get skronky wonky fast. 12) (5:23) very quiet sounds at first, electronics are minimal and chill, then entire track keeps a low profile, urgent, even dark. 13) (7:53) minimal bursts and dark tones, very "arty".
