Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend

Garage tinged rock driving feel with a decidedly melodic pop smear to it. Project of Dan Friel formerly of Parts and Labor, associated with bands like Lightning Bolt (see track 2), Black Dice. Thrill Jockey dubs this “Art Punk”, but I call this damn good rock, that would fill up Chase Center, headline Coachella to masses of people if there were justice. Good guitar drums bass mostly, smacks of the later poppy Husker Du a tad. He relies less on that trendy guitar/synth vocoder Sleigh Bells sound on this album (whew), but its still there.

1) (3:14) good rockin 2)** (4:35) gets to point fast here, hard driving cathartic stuff, some smokin good shit 3) (3:56) bouncy fun rockin, vocoder thing appears for the kids 4) (1:02) ballady kinda, intro to next really 5)* (3:20) good rockin, kinda epic reaching melodic vocals, good noise guitar 6) (3:55) another melodic hit 7) (2:21) bouncy poppy, vocoder heavy. 8) (2:11) another sensitive feeling one like track 4 9)* (3:37) good pounding, garagey, vocoder and moog 10) (2:18) quiet synth, then the guitar vocoder thing dominates, but its infectiously melodic, catchy.
