Bold and unafraid third release from indie folk / Americana artist and Stanford alum, Lizzie No. Alternates between harp and guitar led ballads, with razor-sharp (and often heartbreaking) lyrics that will stay with you long after you’ve listened to them. Guests include Allison Russell, Sadie Dupuis (Speedy Ortiz), and Grammy recipients the Attaca Quartet. Poetic, mature, uncompromising.
FCC CLEAN
All tracks are great, start with 3, 4, 9, 11, 2
RIYL: Lydia Loveless, Julien Baker, First Aid Kit, Waxahatchee, Courtney Marie Andrews, Kathleen Edwards
1. Swelling, with tender vocals and lots of sudden dynamic shifts. Big orchestral and rhythmic arrangements. Features background vocals from Allison Russell
*2. Gentle, harp-led falling-out-of-love number with layered harmonic vocals
*3. Lead single: driving electric guitar riffs, passionate vocals. The title is a nod to our beloved Lake Lag
*4. Swingy, sing-songy, pleasantly twangy acoustic ballad with a nicely polished chorus
5. Emotional, reflective, with soaring vocals, and harp/string accompaniment
6. Somber, poetic, breakup song with sparse guitar
7. Heartbreaking vocals with delicate string and piano accompaniment
8. Twangy strummy, mid tempo reflective ballad about tour life. Nice swells of electric guitar
*9. Lilty strummy with standout vocals and splashy mandolin. Slide guitar adds a nice country feel
10. Quiet 30 second intro leads into a fast-paced rocker
*11. Reflective bluegrass/gospel ballad. Optimistic, moving, and poignant
