Never Die - Matt Jencik & Midwife
Minimal ambient post-rock goth. Dreamy and wistful. Matt Jencik has played with Implodes, Don Caballero, and Slint’s live band, and has a few solo releases of ambient-minimal experimentalism which are worth seeking out too. Midwife (Madeline Johnston) plays ghostly slowcore. Together they make an album commemorating the losses you've yet to carry.
Shoegaze-style ethereal vocals, I don't understand most of the lyrics. No FCCs detected.
1. ++ organ(?) drone and slow quiet sung vocals.
2. Guitar with reverb, distant post-rock
3. ++ Airy guitar and vocal
4. 80's synth, upwards-optimistic sound. At end backwards vocals harmonize
5. + a couple guitar notes droning with sung-whispered phrases, anticipatory then resolves by slowing down
6. ++ Hmm 3/4 ambient major-key slowcore! a good drugged lullaby
7. + A full stripped-down song and most understandable vox "only death is real"

9. whisper-sung breathy vocals, mid-tempo goth, good mix of reverb guitar & early Pink Floyd synths
10. + Slow Cure beat & guitar, forward sounding, while lyrics are regrets looking back. Is this a reference to Pittsburgh's Rickety Records, or Kennywood's wooden rollercoasters?
