This record is a museum of rootsy American styles: folk, R&B, Country-rock, even a bit jazz in spots. Songs are creative & original, but proudly let their many influences show. The core group is Oliver Wood on lead vocals & guitars, brother Chris on bass & harmonica, and a drummer. Numerous guests (some notable) sit in; #3, 5, & 10 have big ensembles incl organ & horns. A very good album. I like every song; some I like a lot.

1 * Mid-fast mostly. Folk-rock love song. Acoustic guitar with min bass & drums. (3:27)
2 * Fast, cookin’ Southern-fried rock. Outstanding slide guitar, both rhythm & solo. (3:57)
3 **Slow dance in swaying 3/4. Pleading of neglected wife. Highlight is a big organ. (3:30)
4 * Mid-tempo bluesy slither with a Dr-John-like vocal. (4:46)
5 *** Mid-tempo ironic break-up song. Like a song John Prine could have written. Big extended band with harmonica, organ, horns sounds great. Perhaps his best singing. (3:27)
6 ** Fast. Jazzy (Moss Allison style) lyric & vocal, set to funky R&B guitar & bass. (3:46)
7 * Slow. Folk-rock ballad about taking a chance & committing to someone. Fine layered guitars. Dead ringer Neil Young harp. (4:16)
8 *** Wow. Rhythm section sounds like Stax Records. Call & response singing right out of church. Fun, funky Southern-rock sounds like Little Feat. So much to like. (3:44)
