as reviewed by Mister Esquire. chanteuse and chanteusey. here's the deal: nick cave is sick of being nick cave -he just can't deal with all the late nights, substance abuse, and little neo goth groupies pestering him all the time. so, what does nick cave do? that's right: he goes to helsinki to get a sex change. and now nick cave goes by the name...gemma ray. FCC CLEAN. RIYL: cave, leonard cohen, anna calvi, ed wood, et al. MR. ESQ. SEZ: MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW!!! PLAY THESE TRACKS: ANY/ALL/PUT ON RANDOM/THAT GOOD. (note: tracks 13&14 are an exception...) *1. slowly coming in, shimmers, chuggy strum along. 2. sweet, cloying 60's countryish pop. *3. I know it's you nick! (you little tenderloin surprise.) *4. theremin, cool and haunty. like something for a lynch flick. *5. BEST TRACK: awwww (mew) 6. ooooo...gothy. (as done by sade) *7. real slow, silent begin. gets reverby guitary. *8. BEST TRACK II: theremin, cool and haunty. like something from an ed wood flick. (mew. I know it's you...nick cave.) 9. neo-oriental sound. let us lounge! (and order mimosas!) 10. kinda reminds me of 'time after time' by cyndi lauper. *11. i imagine kittens singing this as they steal catnip. *12. synth start, kinda clockwork orangey. sounds like something they'd play at a kids doctor...while they waited to get ludavico'd . the exceptions: 13&14 are bonus tracks. nick, i mean, gemma, did a 7' w/ the maal brothers. cover of sparks songs. I decided not to factor these tracks regarding overall meows. 13. kinda cool. 14. kinda sucks. | ||
