NYC noise-rock veterans Unsane sound like Swans’ hyperactive little brother. A dash of punk ‘n’ metal thrown into a concoction of unbridled aggression, totally filthy and raw. Bombastic, syncopated pulses of heaviness assault the ears. Rad stuff for fans of The Jesus Lizard, Flipper, Cows, Big Black; hell, even early Melvins and Swans.
FCC clean

1. (4:09) Rumbling bass-heavy hardcore bash-out rock in a 5/4 groove
2. (4:34) Noisy but subdued, some bluesy lead guitar over a 6/8 swagger
3. *(4:27) Big badass menacing stomp, anthemic and angry—and is that harmonica?? woah
4. (4:07) Dense, almost mathy 12/8 plodding with surges of repressed angst
5. (2:39) Raw and heavy, rumbling toms and grating, hoarse ranting
6. (3:46) Wonderfully off-kilter punk/metal riffage, reminds me of Flag’s “My War” on steroids
7. *(4:16) Deep groovy dirge, hellish and bloody.
8. (6:18) slick and slow slide guitar musing over a steady backbeat, slowly builds into heaviness
9. (3:54) Raging riptide rockin’, some manic shredding and yelling
10. *(2:57) FLIPPER COVER! “Ha Ha Ha”
