Walkabouts, The "My Diviner" b/w "Neu Death Valley" 7" / Fin Records
A-side (33& 1/3)
Super-stony "dreampop" as if it were a younger Marianne Faithful fronting the group.. Definitely has that "Classic Rock" sound, but in a good, underplayed way. The rest of the band puts in a very Eno-esque background that's beautiful w/ out becoming cliche. Also part of your desert excursion soundtrack and/or summertime dream. HxJx's "pick-to-click"!!
B-side (45 or 33 rpm)
Well...at 45 rpm, it's a slow psychobilly dirgey drone w/ banjo, and generally spooky/scary chords. If you've ever been to Death Valley, this is the soundtrack you'd have from Stovepipe Wells to Ubehebe Crater, and then from Scotty's Castle to Tea Kettle Junction, and all through the Panamint Valley. on a hot September day.
However, at 33, it's even more drone-y and adds to that "desert vibe".Take your pick. It's most definitely a "pick-to-click"!!
NOTE - the rare "double-pick". RIYL: Calexico, Caroliner Rainbow, Death in June, Dark Muse, This Mortal Coil, Marianne Faithful
