Fred P: The Incredible Adventures of Captain P
Label: Soul People Music
This is an incredible double-CD featuring the soundscapes of Fred P (a.k.a. The Black Jazz Consortium, Fred Peterkin). All these songs feature his blissful and lush synthesizer stylings and sci-fi textures. He assembles them on beats that range from ambient/downtempo to techno, house, and breakbeats. There are tracks worthy of the great Detroit techno masters. I Ioved all of it, but you can try certain tracks on each CD.

CD 1: Try: 1,2,4,6,8,11,12
1. Straight up house, crisp beats, lovely little synth with glassy vibraphone tones
2. Slammin' downtempo/acid-jazz, crunchiy breakbeats and simple hooks
3. Spacey abstract chill-out - long buildup but the middle is worth it, lovely textures and synth washes over a few snappy beats
4. Abstract techno worthy of Detroit masters. Neat breakbeats & swirly synths. Love.
5. Abstract techno but more experimental than #4, stripped-down beats with creepy little sound effects
6. Sci-fi techno. Very out-there synth washes and echoey effects. A few piano bars brings it down to earth.
7. More gorgeous synths. Blissful little beats thrown in for texture.
8. Kraftwerkian, has hints of "Autobahn", but with all sorts of flittering effects
9. Synth interlude - no beats but really lovely, warm
10. Dub funk with huge sci-fi effects in a wacky jam-session interplay
11. Spaced-out house with an experimental edge; abstract synths and a neat percussive effect
12. Wonderful blissed-out house with a lovely piano melody and warm bubbly synths

CD 2: 2,3,5,6,9
1. Ambience, synth textures and crackles, mild but not particularly dance-y breakbeats
2. A synthesizer opus here with a few congas, mild breakbeats & claps - nice stuff
3. This is what electro should sound like if it were stylish & cool. Delightfully catchy simple melodies and a beautiful synth to it
4. Organic ambience that goes into a dancey track with synths and crackles
5. Warm, light, airy techno with some snappy beats
6. Crispy house with lush synths w/ assorted fem vox speech samples
7. Mostly ambient track with assorted electronic noodling
8. Tambourines, snappy snare drums, radio communication voices
9. Chillout downtempo - trip hop w/ sensual conversation
10. Abstract drum&bass - finely textured beats and reverberating synth tones
