This 2-disc set is the 2nd Rough Guide to focus on N.A. music. A mix of both traditional and contemporary songs from many Nations including Navajo, Blackfoot, Apache and Cree. Disc 2 is by Pura Fe from the Tuscarora Nation. Every track is worth a play and the typically good Rough Guide notes are informative.
*1. Gorgeous a capella intro by female chorus then driving drums!!
2. Quiet flute w/whale sounds, slow. Then soft guitar.
*3. Upbeat female chorus w/tamborine. Lively & way cool.
*4. High energy traditional drum circle/call response vocals.
*5. Great foot stomping upbeat chicken scratch.
6. A relaxed new age sound w/English vocals.
7. Slow guitar/flute . Relaxed and calming.
*8. Powerful drum circle with call/response vocals. Great stuff.
9. Starts slow, picks up a duel between drums and flutes.
10. Upbeat then almost a reggae beat w/vocals.
*11. Soaring drum circle voices w/mixed M & F singers.
*12. Very slow w/old woman’s voice. Wise and calm.
Disc 2 inside: Decca 11/2012
All tracks byPura Fe from her album “Full Moon Rising.” Joined by a strong chorus and backed by strings and percussion. She’s got a lot of passion in her voice and sings both traditional songs but also blues, soul, and funk. She’s great.

*2. Warm, crystal-clear female voices relaxed & beautiful.
3. Slow guitar into then languid female voices.
4. Mid/upbeat female variation of drum circle w/strings.
5. Muted chanting then some electronica/blues sound. English.
6. Picking up speed along the way, female chorus & perc.
*7. Slow w/Spanish spoken word backed by female singer strangely compelling w/a variety of cultures mixed in.
*8. Bluegrass guitar, relaxed & then female singer. Very swampy.
*9. Upbeat Indian Soul w/a wicked cool funk.
10. Relaxed strings & vocals that turns into a warm funky sound.
