VID & Andrew Grant: Dinamic EP
Label: We Are Records
Oh, this is a really nice release on Agaric's label out of Berlin, We Are Records. I can see any of these tracks being played at 5AM in a basement club in Berlin. Young Romanian talent Sorin Rastoaca (VID) has done a great job working w/ Andrew Grant and putting out a nice bit of dubbed-out space-y techno, although the house-y track #1 is the best on this release. I also did like #3 too.
1. Ooh I love the simple synth melody here with a little analog warble, laid over some snappy snares & beats. Think Theo Parrish, a bit Detroit & a bit Chicago here. Simple, catchy, and ultimately quite groovy.
2. Dubbed-out stripped-down techno. The beats are punchy but there's a "barely-there" dub framework over this track. A deep-male vocal sample.
3. Again, stripped-down dubby techno. Beats are deep & bassy, but the synths are barely there and lend to a slightly spooky vibe. Atmospheric reverberations and dry hi-hats.
