Riccio: Come Back EP
Label: Bosconi Extra Virgin
Italo-disco has come a long way and it's nice to hear that Riccio from Bologna is paying homage to the American Midwest with this deep-house EP. There's some tracky, loopy house that varies from energetic disco to chilled-out head-nodders. Riccio employs the remix services of Sneak to throw down a meaty banger in track #3, but I think track #1 & track 2 are my favorites. Try them all for fun.
1. Fun & funky house energized with horns, guitars, bubbly disco loops. Very groovy.
2. Dubbed-out house, with a vocal snippet and some head-nodding grooves, some congas, a bit more chilled-out.
3. Chunky beats typical of DJ Sneak, that thumpy gangsta Chicago-house with attitude to back it up. Tracky, but it works the club hard.
4. Beat-down chilled-out house with smooth synths and light percussive effects. Bassline is nice.
