Trombonist Davis leads a limber, swinging sextet through a set of classics and a few originals in this sophisticated mainstream CD. Strong solos throughout highlight the talent and experience of this group of top-notch performers. *1. A coolly swinging take on Miles Davis. Mostly midtempo. *2. Upbeat and lively w/some warmly playful solos. *3. Here they tone it down with a relaxed groove w/limber solos. 4. A classic gets updated w/some nice brassy flourishes. Midtempo. 5. Slow, almost fragile. Quiet, gentle and romantic. *6. Nice touch of funk to this upbeat jam w/tight arrangements. 7. Starts slow, gets mid. Some nicely syncopation from perc/horns. 8. Gently lyrical down/midtempo w/a light touch. | ||
