Frank Martiniq: Insomniac EP Label: Curle

Nice release off Curle. Martiniq focuses on synthesizer-driven techno that has many many layers. If you stripped the beats away, you'd have an ambient/sci-fi landscape. The beats aren't dominant and in many ways aren't essential to the success of each track. For a sense of the epic & dramatic, try #1 ("Insomnia") and for a dancier track try #3 ("So Far So Good").

1. Epic synths. Huge synth soundscape with multiple layers, and it literally goes halfway through the track before any kind of beats come in.
2. Slightly more dubby and a little more dance-y than #1. Still lots of synths and effects, regardless. Think of it as a dubbed-out sci-fi landscape.
3. Deep synthesizer-driven techno. There's a sound like a laser-firing that sets the rhythm & tempo of the track. Good stuff.
