Chris Page's "Drivetrain" EP has named the tracks after bicycle parts. So as a techno aficionado and a serious cyclist myself, I can appreciate the mechanical qualities of this release. Over time, bike parts are of course subject to assorted squeaks, noises, dirt, and wear. Therefore, this techno/tech-house EP has us moving also from squeaky-smooth to abrasively rough. I like the reliable #1 (Derailleur) and its remix #2 for squeaky smooth and pumping beats. And the noisy Shifter (#3) and Cassette (#4) ultimately are the dirty parts that break on you.

1. Thumping and stripped-down tech-house beats with a funny squealing/warble sound throughout, and lovely little synth melodies
2. Bouncing beat and a slightly techier/noisier remix done by Rebekah. Twisted little effects over hard-driving tech-house/techno.
3. Hard crunching techno with dirty and distorted beats. Despite the roughness of this track, there is a classic head-nodder groove to it.
4. Crackly and dirty minimal techno. Has a dubby feel to it, reverberating synths, less of a dance-floor cut but more of a stoned-out listenable feel to it.
