Mcauley, Jim/Gongfarmer 36
Label: Long Song
Experimental, solo acoustic guitar. Chaotic, a bit difficult, at other points harmonically and rhythmically interesting.
Favorites: Blues for John Carter, The Eyelids of Buddha, Saltarello/Jumpstart, nika’s Waltz.
1. (5:21) Second Blooming – Classical guitar; noodling in the beginning and then interesting Segovia-esque melodies.
2. *(7:02) Blues for John Carter – Steel string, playing lots of blues-ish noodling; really nice modal melodies.
3. (5:01) Another November Night – Very bizarre, atonal noodling; uses a tuning fork to make the guitar strings vibrate strangely.
4. (2:23) What part of maybe (don’t you understand?) – Slide guitar noodling in bursts, very trebly. Kind of atonal at points.
5. (8:22) Una Lunga Canzone – Extended Spanish guitar noodling, nice harmonies sometimes.
6. (2:19) Joy Buzzer – Interesting rhythm on a muted string with some melodic noodling on top. Lots of scratching noises.
7. (11:05) The Eyelids of Buddha – Cool harmonies, slide guitar. Chaotic sometimes, and other times relaxing.
8. (4:36) Plect’s Bounce – Vintage sort of tone, crazy atonal guitar playing (messing with the tuning pegs).
9. *(6:33) Saltarello/Jumpstart – Nice melodic classical playing, good melodies.
10. *(6:54) nika’s Waltz – Ethereal steel string playing, really nice.
