Drummer/composter Prieto and friends deliver some way cool funky jazz with improvised freestyle lyrics and playing. Produced without rehearsal this is an on-the-spot record of one amazing day in the studio. It demonstrates how first rate and creative this group is and conveys that immediacy with style and playfulness. You need to be open minded and without pre-conceived notions of what you will hear. Which means I almost feel guilty about reviewing this as I think it’s best you just hit play and see what you get. I loved, loved, loved this one. To let you experience the same sense of “I have no idea what’s coming next” I am adding no opinions, just an indication of tempo to help you gauge how it’ll fit in your set. Kokayi on vocals deserves special note. This guy is amazing!

1.Tripping and upbeat. 2. Quiet and relaxed. 3. Playful, upbeat.
4. Restrained, quiet & dreamy. 5. Driving, hot work on vox.
6. Mid/upbeat w/a chamber music air, then fast heat. 7. Quirky squeaks and sqwonks, then hot drums & then wicked fast.
8. Electronic buzzing upbeat w/hot vox. 9. Slow and then a sort of spacey lyricism. 10. Quiet intro, mid/up with a nice kind of cinematic drama. 11. Rippling, quiet intro, relaxed with a sort of “Jetsons meet Miles Davis” kind of feel. 12. Upbeat w/a hint of Latin, quiets down.
