Evil, crushing doom metal. I first heard Eagle Twin on Cy Thoth’s show on KFJC, and holy balls do they kick ass. This duo from SLC proves that doom is the only genre that really matters, with sick sludgy riffs and a malevolent drone atmosphere that make this a must-hear for fans of Ramesses, early Cathedral, or Reverend Bizarre; but honestly, they’re in a league of their own. Occasionally they pick up the pace and throw in some Melvins influence with nasty syncopated grooves, but it’s all slow, downtuned, heavy despair. Play often and play loud! FCC clean, though vocals are perfectly discernible.

1. (18:50)** Long, epic, badass—riffs gradually develop into massive skullcrushing destruction concertos, almost catchy with bluesy tritones at times. Evil satanic chanting vocals and bombastic drums carry this through lots of different parts.
2. (9:33) slowww, despairing, relentless march to hades
3. (11:32)** crawling apocalyptic riffs utterly destroy everything; great harmonies, a galloping second half with sick lead guitar
4. (6:30)* evil slowly emerges from mellow riffs, crescendos into huge crushing doom with some Iommi-esque leads, finishes with a SICK headbangin’ gallop
5. (6:17) droning riffs and chanting, eventually a marching pace builds into a steady groove
6. (16:06) bonus live track starts with several minutes of drone that gives way to a crushing Melvins-esque dirge; fantastic riffs, great pummeling drums
