Over-amped, glam-destructo, deep psych pop metal. Sort of like major label Sonic Youth on noise, with some J Mascis thrown in there. Songs start easy and build to blistering swirls of noisy guitars. This doesn’t capture the Thurston Moore (post-Kim Gordon)-led band’s pummeling, sludgy live sound, but presents a neat reminder how noisy psych impulses and abstractions can inform indie rock. Chelsea Light Moving is the name of the moving company Steve Reich and Philip Glass owned and operated. Hope Moore continues with this project- it’s way more interesting than recent Sonic Youth (first line of the review comes from TM’s descriptions). Watch the FCCs on 6.

1. Warm, almost like a Pavement song without the erratic-ness. (2:09)
2. Pleasant, bobby indie rock rhythm with a darker bent joyfully leads down a heavier path. (5:50)
*3. Long instrumental passages and sludgy repetition, noisy jam. Fantastic. (7:49)
4. Pleasant melodies contrast with overdriven, metallic sections. Ends w/ fem. sample about rock ‘n roll in the old days. (5:12)
*5. Wonderful riffs (Moore is a genius). Heavy, stoney, noisy. (4:36)
6. too many FCCs, punky (2:37)
*7. Nice percussion fills, closest thing to a chorus, dark, screeching riffs. (6:10)
8. Spoken-sung, hypnotic, almost post-rocky with violin. (6:51)
*9. Slow driving groove, nice little blowout in the middle, ends w/ 30 secs dead air. (5:32)
10. Fast, punky, Dead Kennedys. (2:27)
