ALTERNATIVE FOLK Debut release from an Australian indie act (named for a suburb of Melbourne) featuring a male and a female singer, guitars, drums. It’s an earnest effort, I believe (I don’t perceive any obvious intent at parody), but quite naïve and DIY in its sound. Very rough & unpolished, like friends just jamming. (Grows on you though.)

No FCC issues.

Mid-slow. Cute, playful melody. Male lead, female harmony. Acoustic guitar. (1:33)
* Mid-tempo, swinging meter. Male sings in a low, gravelly, half-spoken voice. Female sings harmony. A bit of electric guitar and drums. (2:58)
* Mid-tempo. Female vox. Elec guitar with lots of feedback. Lo-fi, noisy recording. (2:17)
Slow folk song. A nice intro on guitar; awful male vocal. (3:27)
Mid-tempo. Starts & stops. Refrain has pretty melody and calypso sway, but verses grind to a halt. Female vocal is awful. (2:09)
Mid-slow. Folk song w/ acoustic guitar, tons of bass, way-down-low male singing. (2:50)
Mid-slow. Folk ballad. Male lead vox. Affected punk attitude. (2:27)
* Mid-slow. Folky again. Female vox (her best), strumming guitar, bass, a racket on percussion in the background. (1:58)
Mid-slow. Female vox (awful). Dominated by clanging percussion incl bells. (3:26)
