CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY / FOLK ROCK A writer of many songs done by others (Dixie Chicks, Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless, others), Kim Richey is a notable performer in her own right. This is her eighth album. No FCC issues. 1 * Mid-tempo. Pretty folk ballad. Nice vocal, rhythm guitar, a bit of pedal steel. (3:37) 2 * Mid-slow. Gentle accompaniment. Melancholy trumpet. Female/male harmony. (4:30) 3 * Mid-slow. Away from home. Banjo picking, pedal steel. Nice harmonies. (4:15) 4 ** Mid-tempo. Excellent duet singing with Jason Isabell. Love this one. (3:05) 5 Very slow, very sad. Drowning her sorrows in whiskey. A bit plodding. (4:31) 6 Mid-fast. Electric country-rock. The most mainstream-radio friendly. (3:24) 7 Very slow. Broken hearted, failed at love. Tedious. (4:39) 8 * Mid-slow. Traditional Americana-style folk ballad. Eerie instrumental mood. Male harmony vox.
