Adoran - Adoran

Bleak, apocalyptic drone metal, harsh and sludgy darkness that would have made KFJC’s drone jockey Cy Thoth (RIP) go totally ape. If you don’t know what I mean, check out Sunn O))), Tecumseh, or Black Boned Angel, listen while staring at a lunar eclipse. Black-hole-heavy guitars swirl and thud, building a sick tension that’s never released but constantly expanded. This duo consists of legendary dronemaster Aidan Baker (Nadja, countless other projects) on drums and Dorian Williamson (Northumbria, Hollowscene) on bass. Fans of Godflesh, Sujo, Khanate, Sunn O))) / Earth will adore this.

Side note: I could hear strains of the new Daft Punk disco-themed album thumping through the walls from my roommate’s subwoofer while I listened, and the combined syncopation kind of… works, in an odd way. Aidan Baker has a good run at a not particularly coveted title, greatest drone drummer.

1. (27:23) Dense, murky plod creeps out from quietness and just builds, builds, builds.
2. (30:11) Pretty much the same note still droning on, tense shifts in tempo and barely imperceptible harmonic modulations make this a spellbinding journey for patient listeners.
