INDIE ROCK / ALTERNATIVE
Twenty acts on this Canadian label get together in pairs to perform ten songs: some are original, some are covers. The choices are eclectic, so it’s hard to say much about the album as a whole. There’s a bit of everything here.

No FCC issues.

1 Very slow, peaceful. 1-1/2 min instrumental intro. Alternating male/female voices. (5:48)
2 * Mid-slow. Odd but interesting remake of New Order’s classic from the 80s. (3:42)
3 ** Slow. Simple folkie song with lovely male / female vocal harmony. Feist – the best known artist here – is terrific, and so is her male partner. (4:09)
4 Very slow. Male voice atop guitar, synth, and grating electronic noise. (4:08)
5 * Mid-tempo. Mix of synth pop, good voices, spookiness. Intriguing. (4:34)
6 Very slow, Neo-Soul. Male voice w electric piano, then enter the strings. Tedious. (4:01)
7 Slow. Thin female lead vox, male backing. Not much to this one. (3:37)
8 ** Slow. Male vox sings a simple folkie ballad. But accompaniment is a terrific, eerie mix of fuzz & feedback with electric guitar, bass, keys. Good stuff. (4:10)
9 Mid-tempo. Female & male voices. Accompaniment is silly, overdone, noisy. (3:15)
10 Very slow, schmaltzy cover of Johnny Mathis classic. (4:39)
