Marco Dassi: First, Quake Me Label: Hell Yeah Records
Eminently listenable and charming album by Italian DJ/producer Marco Dassi. This is distinctly Italian-disco style, rich with synths and summery grooves. Dassi has a flair for the dramtic. Dassi goes into many diferent styles - downtempo, electro-pop, funk, disco, house, even a bit of techy acid. The tracks are very entertaining, and my favorites include #5 ("La Chute de L'Homme"), #9 ("The Right Side), #10 ("Acid Purple Weed"), and #11 ("Feel Like Flying").
1. "Be a Light" (3:35) - Big buzzy synth intro, goes into light & swirly pop-tronica
2. "Les Petites Choses" (4:31) - Synth-driven disco-funk. Playful and charming.
3. "When She Puts Her Hands Around Me" (3:22) - Super-chill downtempo track. Light & airy.
4. "Fleeting Glances" (5:14) - A bit techy, very sci-fi synths & pitched-up drones building up into epic drama.
5. "Swedish Love" (5:20) - Synth-driven dramatic electro-funk.
6. "La Chute de L'Homme" (6:41) - Long cinematic synth breaks over Euro-house w/ French dialogue. Very cool.
7. "Slow Norske" (7:10) - Super-chilled out beats with crackly noise textures and lots of synths
8. "Reloved" (5:36) - Euro-synth bliss. Very rich & dramatic dance-y house.
9. "The Right Side" (4:32) - Grinding bass electro-breaks with hints of echo-y dub. Funky!
10. "Acid Purple Weed" (7:36) - Euro-fied acid-house. Analog blurps with rich synths. Love it!
11. "Feel Like Flying" (7:17) - Blissful Euro-pop. Vocoder vox & catchy synth loops. Think Daft Punk. Summery fun.
