Album Review
The Grunt
Reviewed 2013-10-18
Artist: Aerial Ruin // Album: Valleys Of The Earth

Neofolk / Dark Folk / Post-apocalyptic singer-songwriter. Beautiful, deep, melodic, melancholic, heartfelt metalhead with an acoustic guitar. Clean vocals. This is a slow and deliberate folk album that somehow you can kind of bang your head to.

RIYL: Worm Ouroboros, Simon and Garfunkel,

1.) One voice and one guitar. No overdubs or effects. "I would have needed you to fall"
2.) Beautiful breathy vocal overdubs.
3.) Some slightly overdriven guitars in the background.
4.) Shimmering ambient in the background, many guitars
5.) One voice and one guitar. "All that's deranged could be true"
6.) FUCKING UNIQUE AND BEAUTIFUL. Some lilting shimmering feedback runs. Drone-ish.
7.) Simple. Sweetly ominous.
8.) Two guitars
9.) Typical for the album
10.) Appears to be a continuation of #6 but less of a song structure
11.) A little extra depressing sounding than the rest
