Cloud Control/ Dream Cave
Cloud Control is an alternative rock band with indie and psychedelic tendencies. The vocals range from sounding earnest and soft to impassioned and vibrating. If you like Band of Horses, Local Natives, Two Door Cinema Club, or Mark Foster, check Dream Wave out. The album name aptly describes most of the songs- atmospheric, rolling instrumental patterns, chill. Starred are my favorites. Great for a road trip. No FCC violations detected.

1:48 begins with echoing voice; atmospheric, drums remind me of Explosions in the Sky
4:20 slight echoing, hollow voice; consistent beat, easy to hear, lazy vibe, good for a chill car ride home
* 3:23 most unique vocals on this album, voice sometimes sounds like Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse), then like Randy Newman, then like any other indie band; simple guitar solo, female singer reminds me of girl in Grouplove
3:42 guitar reverb, beach boysie male vocals gliding with a bright and simple guitar and steady drumming patterns, summer day after beach
3:35 beginning something I’d expect late night on NPR, deep whirring in background, vocals like those of Two Door Cinema Club, sometimes falsetto, guitar solo at end with stretching and cracks
4:35 like female choir in style of Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap, then bass and drums pick up, bright guitar in background, deep kazoo effect on guitar solo near end, more electronic near end
* 3:43 lazy vibing then chorus explodes and vibes less lazily, alt rock but also with indie psych keyboard
3:09 very much an alt song: “I hate my birthday.” head bobbing, guitar solo sounds kind of like bagpipes, more commanding, faster than some of the others songs, female backer is back
* 4:00 fun rise-and-fall bass line, vocals squeakier than before like Band of Horses
6:04 low, deep beat, same high male vocal, the sound kind of wallows in itself while keeping pace, by 4:30 only a distant voice yelling, can barely make out what’s said
6:08 acoustic, indie earnest-y in voice, simple, old rock “darling” ballads without any twang, vibrato crooning in parts, by 3:30 just sound of dripping water in cave
