(CLEAN) 7 G-E-M-S “Without You” (Ill Adrenaline Records)
A prime example of lyricism about random topics, “Without You” showcases each emcees ability to draw from alchemy, chemistry, astronomy, the bible, and a plethora of literary and academic disciplines to express their thoughts in the abstract while remaining raw…street dirty. A simple descending piano sample coupled with simple boom bap (literally a boom and a bap) programming provides the canvas for this lyrical creation with the intention of never overpowering the lyrics. Perfectly balanced and yet still gutta.
