Von Himmel is a local krautrock / drone duo featuring Greg Garbage and Paul Grimes. They take a very abstract and ritualistic approach in the vein of Amon Duul II, Ash Ra Tempel, or Taj Mahal Travelers. Freewheeling jams descend into murky soundscapes; strange but 100% accessible if you have the patience. Instrumental, side-long tracks of unknown length (20mins give or take a few). 33rpm A: clunky free-jazzy wandering, blurry basement-sounding quality, lacking any rising tension but instead is one slow glorious denouement into haunting drone B: faster at first, ultimately more drone-oriented track, haunting and surreal | ||
