Album Review
MC Dizzy Jackson
Reviewed 2014-01-30
Debut from Nashville-based quartet playing alt-country stylings w/ a bit of ’60’s psyche. Jack White enlisted them for a 45, so there’s a bit of cred. Solid stuff throughout w/ instrumentation of gtr, pedal steel, bass, drums, lots of tambourine, Hammond B3. For fans of Uncle Tupelo, Old ’97’s, The Band, good ol’ rock, etc. No FCC’s.

*My Favorites*: 2, 3, 5, 8, 9.

1. (3:13) Mid. Upbeat jangly retro pop.
2. *(4:10) Mid. Strong beat w/ tambourine, killer gtr.
3. *(3:24) Mid. Alt-country vibe w/ pedal steel.
4. (2:35) Mid. Kinda nostalgic vibe w/ B3.
5. *(2:54) Mid. A bit more rockish, w/ Robbie Robertson-ish gtr.
6. (2:46) Mid. Marchin’ country folk vibe.
7. (3:45) Mid. More rockin’ w/ killer pedal steel.
8. *(2:31) Mid. Retro rockin’ bluesy.
9. *(3:04) Mid. Kinda psychedelic w/ deep bass. Killer.
10. (3:59) Mid. Big pedal steel, a bit nostalgic, nice.
11. (0:35) Mid. (Hidden track) Trippy w/ big drums, gtr.
