APOCALYPTIC, EARSHATTERING POWER ELECTRONICS! Transmitter failure mini-epics, cathartic stuff that should ideally be broadcast during the rush-hour commute. Jeff Carey is a musician from Baltimore who uses video game equipment and a laptop (explicitly “no guitars or synthesizers were used on this recording”); when I saw him live, he was ten feet away from me and I seriously thought my head was going to explode—you know, in a good way. But also literally. Holy fuck this is some loud and disturbing noise from hell. And yet it’s so carefully crafted, with a brilliant ear for dynamics and tension, it somehow manages to be beautiful in a really twisted way. Don’t overlook this gem. All tracks wonderful, 3-4 mins.

1. buzzzz whirrrr fizzzzz BOOOOOM clang
2. slow and subtle rumbling, digital cicada chirping
3. glitch-laden stereo-panning pulses, static explosions, ends on more windy nothingness
4. harsh destructive bursts of jet engine seppuku
5. whooshing, whirring, rumbling sounds, like you’re being force-fed peyote by a psychotic dentist
6. intergalactic laser warfare
