Same Ol 2 Step’s debut CD “Something For the Young and Old” is a must have if you want good Zydeco Music. Despite being a very new band, Same Ol 2 Step seems to have mastered the ability to be both successful and grounded. The result, 13 hot tracks that are an outstanding contribution to Zydeco Music and the Zydeco Nation! Something for the Young and Old is a CD that crosses over the many styles of Zydeco Music and will likely be heard and appreciated by many old and new listeners in the Zydeco nation, making this CD a truly “accessible” Zydeco CD.

Track 1 INTRO, A funky base line, Parliament-Funkadelic like vocals and guitar rifts translates in to some “funky stuff” and a tight groove... Very Hot.

Track 2 Same Ol 2 Step , is a strong track with an old school Zydeco sound with a Zydeco Nouveau attitude. Lil Wayne anchors the song with smooth, rugged vocals that give this track a tight country edge backed by a strong musical groove makes this song the band’s signature song and a Zydeco dance classic in the making.

Track 3 Give It Up, There is no pretense about this song. This song is strictly for the dancers and trailriders. Be prepared to dance and sweat on this on!

Track 4 Nothing But Fine , is a Rockin’ Sidney classic and perhaps the surprise of the CD. This track a shows a glimpse of the depth of musical talent of Same Ol 2 Step. The vocals are strong and the music is high energy and hot. Well Done!

Track 5 Tell Me Why / I Been Thinking , is a creative track that incorporates smooth accordion rifts, tight vocals with a classic R & B song by the 3 Tonies. This is a fun high energy song and crossover track that will definitely get any Zydeco dancer on the floor!

Track 6 Sweet Baby of Mine , is a hot Zydeco track and another one of the CD’s signature songs! A southwest Louisiana and Texas hit! The band is firing on all cylinders with this track and the song solidifies and defines the Same Ol 2 Step sound and style… A classic in the making… This song will be popular for a very long time.

Track 7 Where Have you Gone , is a track that signifies what the band is all about…a new sound, but still the “Same Ol 2 Step” as the song incorporates the sounds and influences of master Creole accordionist Amede Ardoin with the contemporary sound of today’s Zydeco music. This song is a near perfect balance of maintaining tradition and melding new creativity that allows the musical culture to develop in new exciting and healthy ways…well done!

Track 8 One for the Road , is a fun Zydeco roadhouse and trailride anthem! Lighthearted, amusing and high-energy Zydeco track…Allons Zydeco!

Track 9 Broken Hearted… , Classic Zydeco song from John Delafose, done Same Ol 2 Step style. This is perhaps one of the best, most unique, and creative interpretations of this classic. The accordion rifts are hot, the vocals are tight, and the band in general is on que and sync with each other…you definitely feel this song!

Track 10 Everywhere I Go , is one of the hottest trail ride anthems to hit Zydeco Nation in long time…nuff said…Saddle Up!

Track 11 Oh Bye Bye , is a beautiful Zydeco track that is a wonderful balance of old school tradition with a Zydeco Nouveau approach. You can feel the emotion and intensity behind this song. This song is the hidden gem of the CD waiting to be discovered.

Track 12 You Worry Me , Just when you thought it was over, Same Ol 2 Step comes right back at the Zydeco Nation with another Zydeco Force classic…and like the first Zydeco Force on the CD, they get it right!

Track 13 Missing You , is the closer track featuring the vocals of Ms. Paula “Sweet Pea” Brown. This song is interesting in that is somewhat of a departure from the CD. A funky baseline and tight lead guitar rifts anchor this song as Lil Wayne and Paula exchange vocals that give the song an up beat R&B/Southern Soul sound. Very Nice!

Something for the Young & Old, simply put, is outstanding! Zydeco Nation, take notice, this band is on the path to greatness!
