Sensational sophomore release from SoCal native playing solid Soul, R&B, Surf. He’s 27 and sounds like he’s been doin’ it for decades. Female backup singers, organ, horns, drums drive it all. Great voice. Not to be missed. For fans of Sharon Jones, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, JD McPherson, Tom Waits. No FCC’s.

*My Favorites*: All.

1. (2:50) Slow / Mid. Cool late-night lounge menace.
2. (2:53) Mid / Fast. Uptempo horn-driven r&b surf.
3. (3:04) Mid. Slinky, creeping noir hipness.
4. (2:37) Slow / Mid. Dark jazzy crawl.
5. (3:13) Mid. Kinda Tom Waits w/ Latin flair.
6. (2:42) Mid. Title track. R&b, soul vibe, Herb Alpert horn.
7. (2:52) Mid. Drivin’ w/ killer sax solo.
8. (3:05) Mid. Sparse, jazzy w/ strong beat w/ brushes.
9. (3:29) Mid. Upbeat soulful r&b w/ organ.
10. (3:53) Slow / Mid. Mose Allison vibe, very noir.
