This is a compilation of songs written by Sahir Ludhianvi, a well-known lyricist of Hindi (Bollywood) films. These songs are from 1950s-1970s described by some as the Golden Age of Hindi film music. This was a period when there was equal emphasis on lyrics and melody and the result is a stash of classic hits ranging from happy to mellow tunes. Ludhianvi was known for his beautifully written songs most of which had a poetic quality about it.

This CD features some of the best playback singers, which is how singers are described in Indian film music along with well-known music composers. Most songs in this compilation are on the mellow side. Don’t expect to hear foot stomping, amped up music, but gentle, poetic songs about life and love.

All the songs are in Hindi.
