Crobots—Crobots EP

Review by Luis A. Apolaya

Back in the day this might have been classified as a bluesy derivative of the hair metal craze—the vocals are reminiscent of an angry Jack White plus Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell. It’s relentless and yet accessible, most fit for those seeking an introduction to the realm of heavier rock sounds. Recommended: all of them. RIYL White Stripes, Black Keys, Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age.

**1. (3:17) Mid-tempo, excitedly noisy guitars go into a Black Keys-esque kind of rant, stomping and unabashedly rockin’
*2. (3:03) Fast mid-tempo, Red Hot Chili Peppers kind of fusion of rock and funk beat, bona fide head nodder (could even be a banger for some)
**3. (5:34) Starts with a mid-slow, emotional guitar and drums jam, then switches to a blues-heavy set of riffs and drumwork, smooth guitar play during the interlude (also, Satanic undertones)
**4. (3:56) “Foxey Lady”-esque beginning, reminiscent of relatively radio-friendly grunge-era tracks, solid chorus.
