First album in a decade by these punk legends! And it rocks! This is a great straight-ahead rock album—raw and fun and catchy, sometimes intense but always welcoming—music for pop lovers and punks alike. Frontwoman Kim Shattuck’s a powerful singer; her screaming is pretty much unparalleled (especially in concert). Great summery music. Five meows + exclamation pointsTM. All songs are good, but my favorites are: 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9. No FCCs noted.

1. *(3:06)—Medium-fast, heavy, rocking, upbeat, not overwhelming.
2. (2:30)—Mid-tempo. Stomping, crunchy, with handclaps.
3. (3:07)—Mid-tempo. Sunny, with cowbell.
4. *(3:38)—Medium-fast, hip-shaking bubblegum punk, with organ.
5. *(4:00)—Medium-slow, bouncy, anthemic. Guitar solo!
6. *(2:10)—Fast mosh pit pop!
7. *(3:48)—Mid-tempo, happy, warm, with harmonica.
8. (2:29)—Mid-tempo, free and easy, with backup “ooh-la-la”s.
9. *(2:56)—Mid-tempo, duet! Nice vocal + guitar melodies. Like a heavier Byrds.
10. (2:58)—Mid-tempo. Really channeling 60s/70s pop hooks now.
11. (3:52)—Mid-tempo. Grungier. Key change!
12. (2:38)—Mid-tempo, sweet and syrupy, with organ.
