SAYLAH/NOTES, RHYMES, & MELODIES/Inside Out Music Independent Bay Area rap artist Saylah's latest release shows growth: lyrically, creatively, and with his overall production. His message is still centered on Christ and humility. If you like a basic EDM sound, or you like the South's "chopped & screwed" sound - if you enjoy artists like Lecrae...if you just enjoy good quality music... you'll enjoy this. No FCCs. My favorite tracks are: 11, 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, & 8. Reviewed by Daniel of Lift Jesus Higher. *1) 2:08 - Medium Tempo. Marked by piano riffs, sine synth sounds, and heavy drum kicks. This is just a single verse, a chorus and an outtro, but very well done. *2) 3:07 - Fast tempo. Heavy on the bass and drums, a more "chopped & screwed" sound, complete with necessary synthesized sounds. Beat heavy and enjoyable. *3) 3:49 - Med/slow tempo. Nice female accents/samples, piano & highly edited snares and hi-hats (truncated and transposed) with muted kicks and toms. *4) 3:39 - Med/fast tempo. A very H-Town sound overall. A lot of sounds and digital "voices", rolling drum kits and orchestra hits. 5) 4:33 - Slow tempo. Great male vocal hook, acoustic guitar carrying the melody with a bass, marching snares, hard kicks and what could be an organ to accompany. *6) 4:22 - Medium tempo. More of what I would call a Mid-West sound; a variety of synthesized sounds and bangin samples. 7) 3:51 - Med/fast tempo. Candice on the hook. A basic EDM overall sound. Ear candy. *8) 3:49 - Med/slow tempo. Pianos, samples with a steady dose of snares with clapping sounds overlaying them in the background. 9) 4:08 - Medium tempo. Lovely acoustic guitar melody coupled with heavy drums and a catchy hook. 10) 2:56 - Medium tempo. A club-banger-type with very truncated drum kits. **11) 4:12 - Slow tempo. Simply an acoustic guitar on this one. Very emotional with Candice again on the hook. **12) 3:12 - Medium. Title track. Jazz drums, piano and synths carry this tune. 13) 3:10 - Med/fast tempo. Nice horns, drums and overall solid and complex production. | ||
