– General Description: Camille Thurman is a multi-talented saxophonist, flutist, vocalist, composer and educator. She is also a two-time award winning recipient of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers award (2012 & 2013). ORIGINS is her debut album and smartly done. Besides being a highly melodious and effortless instrumentalist, Thurman has a very rich soprano voice. Playing the sax and flute has given her voice depth and excellent breath control for her wonderfully fluid scat singing.
– FCC Compliant: YES

– Track Reviews:
1. (8:24) Forward Motion - animated; fast walking bass, long drum solo then slows only to return to previous pace, then double bass solo
2. (3:40) A Change Of Mind - comfortable; voice and electric piano added, scat singing also
3. ***(5:56) Indigo Oments - languid with flights of ascending and descending tones, then medium-paced smooth tune, muted sax used
4. (6:06) Origins - fast; lots of thumping of pedal tone on bass and acoustic piano
5. (4:46) The Dreamweaverer - graceful over quick walking bass and arpeggiating harp
6. ***(1:31) Anna's Joy - a capella scat singing
7. *****(4:01) In Duetime - flute playing like a shakuhachi, then a fast scat voice and instrument build and flow (well-done)
8. (5:47) Kindred Minds - sedate and smooth, long rich tones on the sax
9. (1:10) Felix's Groove - alternating raspy and smooth solo sax
10. *****(5:54) Jitterbug Waltz - lively; punctuated sax and then sliding along with unison chorus popping in and out (Thomas "Fats" Waller)
11. (7:01) Pursuit With A Purpose - adagio with pretty piano for 1st 2 minutes, then medium as sax enters
12. (4:58) Please Be Kind - mellow with voice and piano
13. (2:54) Revisiting The Past - moderate with scat voice and double bass
