Gori Ussi Winnetou Welcome Home Reviewed by BravoMarco Croatian rock pop with a twist – not so much of the later, folk, blues, cabaret, klezmer, industrial and punk– Originally released in 1989, interesting to compare with the later epic releases. This certainly has a sense of 80’s pop about it. Some words in English. Not quite the Croatian Tom Waits – just yet. Liking 2,3,6 Loving 5 (10) FCC’s 2* Puttana (Whore) No other detectable FCC’s 1) Tobacco National (4:03) Starts off brightly enough & then goes into the Rolling Stones – Satisfaction. Interspersed with the Stones track & their own, Their track is better but oddly not enough of it. 2) *Pola Citta Puttana (5:11) Slower paced ballad style tune & it goes into a general sing song knees up down the pub & then back again to the ballad. At times it sounds like a lounge act from the Stardust Rooms. 3) Tango Istriano (3:51) Above average 80’s pop track with horns, at times it has a circus feel. 4) Storie Polesane 1 (2.46) Another pub track – Shades of the “Birdie Song” Good oompa loompa fun. 5) Daz Dazdi, Mis Prdi (0.32) A Great folk / medieval snippet –Why so short? 6) Chi Non Pissa In Compagnia...(5:22) Bit of a Eurovision style song. Catchy fast paced chorus. A song of the time. Could have been in the film 9 1/2 weeks. 7) Io Amo Amarcord (3.14) Boogie woogie with a bit of jazz hands thrown in. heavy on the keys. 8) Moj Rodni Grad Bejrut (3:49) Very minimal Middle Eastern influences underneath a familiar pop sound. Nice horns & bass. 9) Triumphus (4.23) Bigger sound on display here. Military beat with horns to start then the keys take over & it starts getting busy. Nice English sing a long ending. 10) Daz Dazdi, Mis Prdi (0.29) Same as 5 – Just slightly shorter…A real shame. | ||
