Hot Rize “When I’m Free” Label: Ten In Hand Records Joseph Reviewed 9/23/14 First studio album in 25 years, these guys haven’t lost much. Wonderful new original bluegrass, with Bryan Sutton taking over for the late Charles Sawtelle on guitar. 1 – (2:42) Western Skies Good O’Brien & Forster original, mid-up-tempo. 2 – (4:04) Blue Is Fallin’* Slow, darkish O’Brien original, wow! 3 – (3:42) Come Away* Lovely appeal, wonderful melody. 4 – (2:36) Sky Rider* Wernick banjo instrumental, fine playing by all. 5 – (3:01) You Were On My Mind This Morning Decent song about rambling. 6 – (2:31) Doggone* Forster original, and he kills it. 7 – (3:40) A Cowboy’s Life* Slow, dark modal tune, fine. 8 – (2:57) I Never Met A One Like You Mark Knopfler cover, decent. 9 – (3:14) Burn It Down Another good track, not a standout. 10 – (2:59) Glory In The Meeting House* Fiddle & mandolin duet, fine. 11 – (3:24) I Am The Road* Wonderful, slower Sutton/Forster original, wow! 12 – (3:01) Clary Mae Decent mid-tempo tune, good playing. | ||
