Big, dreamy, sludgy, heavy psych rock. Ty Segall released this via his God? Imprint on Drag City, and this feels a lot like the heavier parts of Segall’s album Manipulator. Wand ROCKED THE HELL OUT at the 2014 Burger Boogaloo in Oakland, and this album is similarly face melting. Sounds like playing Dungeons & Dragons in a giant rainbow. All hail. Favorites: 3, 4, 6, 10. No FCCs.

1. (3:07)—Slow, molten lava distortion. Kinda shoegazy in its tripped out, enveloping loudness.
2. (3:34)—Mid-tempo. Menacing polyrhythmic heavy metal blues.
3. *(2:41)—Medium-fast. Poppier, a lot like Tame Impala.
4. *(5:08)—Slow, epic, flat-out beautiful trip. Loud to quiet to loud. HELL YES.
5. (0:19)—Burst of psych noise.
6. *(3:20)—Mid-tempo, bashing, major key anthem.
7. (3:22)—Mid-tempo, funky, bubbly. Grows noisier, with guitar solos.
8. (3:43)—Mid-tempo, skull-crushing trudge. Last minute is pulsing psych.
9. (3:47)—Slow, soft, spaced-out ballad.
10. *(6:08)—Mid-tempo, sparkly, hypnotic, driving. One of my favorite song titles of 2014. Dead air from -1:00 to -0:40, hidden track of synth.
