David Shea Rituals Room 40 Weird, mystical ritual meditations and crazy layers of field recordings. There is a lot going on in every one of these although they may seem quiet and ambient. ****1. (18:39) Low drone, affected vocals, chant with slow beat, eerie trumpet, turns into piano chords and very ECM / Keith Jarrett flowing noodling and drama, droney jaw harp piano meditation, ritual vocal drone, ringing clanging mystical prayer bell outro *2. (8:36) Skittering insect percussion, flutes crazy flutter up and down, eerie suspenseful drone with whistles and bells, feedback, organ and flute tuba build up drone, nightmarish and sort of Terry Gilliam *3. (17:45) Field recording track. Big insect skitters - loud and subtly percussive, prayer bowls slowly chiming, a faint conversation from a distance, cows mooing, bird calls of large scary birds, desert rattles, enter violins and discordant flutes and chimes, clanky cow bells and more (less scary) birds, chu chu train, jaw harp develops tribal beats. It would get more stars but it gets pretty long in the middle ***4. (6:37) Eerie Arabic?Farsi? voice over mystical flutes and drone, subtle driving percussion circle joins **5. (7:29) Ringing electronics, quiet feedback, beeps, sample of a conversation between a man and a woman, overlapping samples, astronaut noise, outer space mechanical twinkles ******6. (14:47) Low drone - shruti box, low continuous piano, slow winding up warm up, circular tabla, drums, flutes, vocal chant, Oren Ambarchi on guitar RIYL Fire! With Oren Ambarchi, monkey chant | ||
