ALL TRACKS FCC CLEAN
Debut album! Alsarah, the lead female vocalist hails from the Nubian region of northern Sudan (extends into southern Egypt) but grew up in Yemen. Now based in Brooklyn, she follows in the tradition of the late Hamza El Din, bringing Nubian-inflected music to the world, playing oud, singing mostly in Arabic. Album has traditional tunes (1, 3, 9, 11), AlSarah’s original compositions (2, 6, 7) her translation from Nubian to Arabic (8), and others’ material. I’m partial to the oud.

***1. Habibi Taal (Come Lover) – Swingy beat w/female choral backup – 3:18
**2. Soukura (It's Late) - driving beat with oud, tar & vocal. Watch the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KFBKcl4CD0 – 5:00
