Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend

Proggy rock slathered in 80's dark atmospherics (think Ultravox, Scritti Politti, Roxy Music, Sisters of Mercy) with dark lines yet a post rock prog. Confused? Me too. It's really good. Good long-ish tracks kick this out of pandering radio indie rock bin. Guitar heavily chorused, deep dark bass, atmospherics, prog drums, male vocs sung dramatically, sax appears later. Hypnotic repetition used smartly in places. Really advanced great stuff to be expected from Toby Driver (Secret Chiefs 3).

1) (11:54) trippy atmospheric and dramatic, poppy in the vocs, doomy in the treated bass, epic
2)* (9:25) upbeat indie feel, dreamy, midway a strange dark breakdown that reminds me of dark new romantic Ultravox or something, really cool
3)* (4:07) upbeat feel but still that strange overlay of early 80s something
4)* (8:24) big bass, 4AD chorused sheen, kicks into some major proginess as it goes, on line with Brand X or other fusion
5)* (5:48) rockin feel, probably most normal feel at first but breaks down fast into near spastic noise, sax vs bass is Swans-y
6) (10:06) chill, vocal centric, sax appears for spotlight
