Satie Slowly is a double CD filled with beautiful and idiosyncratic renditions of Erick Satie’s seminal works performed by American composer Philip Corner. Corner’s interesting approach includes slowing down the tempo and allowing the notes to extend longer than expected. Satie’s compositions lend themselves to this kind of experimentation, as they disregard traditional forms and tonal structures. Satie Slowly also includes a fascinating and puzzling 44-page booklet of commentary and an equally intriguing 16-page booklet of graphic analysis.
